Yeah, I attempted it but didn't finish, either. It just really, really annoyed me, and I already found the first book plenty annoying enough. The second person pov was too much.

Double down. Think it harder. If someone is going to invade your privacy make them wade through all the owl demon butt stuff!

Vampire media (based on 5)

If you're a fan - what's your all-time fave?

If you're not generally a fan - is there an exception that you love?

The 1920s one is on YouTube.

I liked the first one well enough, but I struggled with the second. It's not the second person POV that bothered me though, it was more like, there was worldbuilding in the book, but they didn't explain it well enough to the point I could really grasp it fully, so to speak? Like I chugged along reasonably well, but it felt like the book already expected you to know all these terminology because the characters do and well, I kinda don't.

Also, the whole time, I kept wondering when they were gonna get to the giant eldritch beings they were gonna fight and I think they just kinda only sorta confronted it (can't remember.) Basically I as Milhouse wondering when they were getting to the fireworks factory.

It was really good as a character-focused novel, which, I suppose was probably the whole point vs. the greater scope of the plot. But, uh, given this was, at the time, Book 2 out of 3, I was baffled by how much they just wasted time not advancing the plot during.

In short, I'm not sure I wanna bother with Nona the Ninth.

My favorite of all time has to be the new Interview with the Vampire series. Gimme gay, dramatic, pretty vampires all day.

One Dessert for Life

(Anonymous) 2025-01-28 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
If you could only have one dessert the rest of your life, what would it be and why? I'd have to say macarons! So pretty, so many varieties and flavors, and not too heavy. Or maybe brownies, if they're gooey, for the comfort factor.

Favorite novels: The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix and Vamped by David Sosnowski. As a kid, I was obsessed with the all the vampire novels by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Man, if that series came out today, the YA would eat it up.

For movies, What We Do In The Shadows and Interview With A Vampire. The Blade series is also a ton of fun.

For TV, What We Do In The Shadows, Midnight Mass, and Buffy are great.

I don't think I've ever played any vampire themed video games.
