I really like this secret. Excellent content and beautiful design.

Can I get a short explanation for why Trek fandom in the 2020s is dedicated to painting Sisko as anything but a competent officer with excellent people skills, a wicked sense of humor, and a few interesting flaws to round him out? Did we all watch the same DS9?

I have no clue, but this perspective is interesting to me because I've only seen a few episodes of DS9 (TNG was more my thing) and don't really have a strong impression of Sisko or any other character, so peoples' strong opinions just make me wonder if I'd feel the same if I'd watched more of the show.

It is backlash for the last twenty years of military-fic fans in Trek painting him as the only good Star Trek lead. Just sick of the rah-rah-rah grimdark war good shite.

weirdly, that's the best explanation I've seen, but at the same time, the rah-rah military Trek worldview was always a miniority back in my day - up through Voyager we still understood that there was as much science and leadership in Starfleet as there was fighting wars. I'd be pretty glad I'm no longer actively part of fandom if the pro-military view took over all of Trekkie worldview.

I said this in the comment thread for this secret, but I've just started in on this show and I've heard about the whole Doctor/Tailor thing, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of their interactions as the show goes on :D. The episode where they first met was so good.

(Really liking the show as a whole, too, I love all the characters and all the political intrigue is fascinating. Gives me slight "Twilight Zone" vibes at times, mainly in terms of how they touch on important issues and topics, which is a plus for me.)

This is not untrue! But there's also so much more to it.

All the anti-DS9 and anti-Sisko rhetoric here is really, really starting to feel racist at this point. The Black Panther hate is, too. Two properties with Black leads declared unambiguously evil and corrupt with so much repetition on this site can't be a coincidence, and it's beyond suspicious.

Janeway, who is still awesome, did way more sketchy shit than Sisko in the same timespan and yet he's the one that gets shat on. I'm really starting to hate it.

Tuvix alone is an enormous crime...

Also, there was a time with a bunch of Mariner (from Star Trek: Lower Decks) hate secrets. I think whoever made those secrets has moved on from Lower Decks and no longer posts rants about Mariner's character but it felt pretty racist when it was also happening along with the anti-DS9/Sisko and anti-Black Panther stuff at the same time.

My friend, my sibling in Christ, I say this with compassion in my heart and healing in my soul, but is there anything you do not consider racist? Can we get a list of shows and movies which you think we cannot criticize and a list of those which you agree we can talk about?

Haven't seen DS9 (except I know the Hottest love affair mentioned) but this secret is visually beautiful!
