I have no idea if it's because of the dub I listen to (Italian), but I remember distinctly that in one episode it is heavily implied that he had a relationship with a man in the past.
I don't remember when he said that, BUT HE DID! in a throwaway line and I was like WAIT WHAAAAT and checked up wikipedia and discovered that the actor himself was bi, so I thought they made a nod to that fact as they did with Doctor Huang and BD Wong, so for me Barba has been canon bisexual for a looong time.

Also, I do believe he clearly stated his interest in Olivia when he came back for those random episodes some seasons ago? Like, textually said it. But Olivia was not interested at the time. So? How could he possibly be gay? ...Good thing I'm not in the fandom.

Hmm, I'm going to have to look into that because I don't remember that at all! Not saying it didn't happen, I just don't remember it.

But yeah, he pretty much confessed his feelings for Olivia. Some people in the fandom like to claim it was meant in a platonic way, but it's been confirmed by writers in at least a few interviews that he was interested in her in a romantic way.

So yeah, that just makes him possibly bisexual, not gay.
