Re: CNN anchor quits on live TV

"Quits on live TV" is a bit of a dramatic way to phrase it. Talks had been going on for awhile now where they wanted to move him to a death slot ratings-wise, and after thinking about it he decided that he would prefer to quit instead. There were really no dramatics to it, he just announced at the very end of his show (after doing the show normally) that it was time for him to move on and thanked everyone he's worked with in his 18 years there.

And as someone who's watched CNN regularly since Trump was campaigning the first time (because my parents watch it constantly and would always have it on when I'm around), Jim Acosta's great. The person on that channel who most regularly called Trump on his bullshit. I'm definitely curious to see what he does/where he goes next.

Oh yeah that’s a very different spin. That’s a perfectly normal way for an anchor inform their audience that they won’t be returning. Sometimes the audience knows in advance and sometimes they don’t, but it’s never “quits on live tv.”

Yeah, I've heard of a "quits on live TV" situation before with some like small local channel where someone went on an angry rant, yelled "I quit!" and stormed off the set, but this was very much not that.
