+1, there were only white and indigenous people where I grew up. I don't think I was personally racist to the indigenous people (not telling or laughing at racist jokes, for example) but I didn't meet an Asian person until I was 12 and didn't meet a person from an African background until I was maybe 21-22. So yeah, I had a ton of stereotypes going on.

This is genuinely why more accurate representation in media is more important than people think. Some people literally have no exposure to people not-like-them except through movies and shows and fiction.

AYRT The only people of African background I ever saw on TV were in Sesame Street and later in Star Trek.
