It would probably be better for your mental health to reconcile yourself to the fact that people who voted for Trump exist in the world with you, and they aren't going to suddenly vanish. You have to come to grips with the fact that it's out of your control.

I don't think the problem is that some people might be Trumpers. It's not knowing whether or not someone from a group that has proven to be overwhelmingly unsafe (especially for mental health) has access to you in what is supposed to be a safe space for you.

I encounter Trump supporters on the road all the time, and I've seen them display/fly their stupid flags on their car or home. But I'd never hire any one of them to be my therapist. Why? Even if they don't consider themselves to be mean people, their support of a person who overwhelmingly supports and enables acts that hurt the marginalized, and all for the cruelty of it -- tells me they don't have good judgment of others, and I would doubt their ability to help me. Even if they claim to be objective, I would not take that risk.

Besides, IMO you have a right to the therapist of your choice. If you're religious and want a religious therapist, you should get that. If you want the opposite, you should get that too. An older person, a younger person, someone who is NOT a Trump supporter, or if for whatever reason you want a Trump supporter. You should feel like your therapist has your back.
