Completely depends on what it is.

If I know the writer or writers have, with a fair amount of frequency, mishandled other plots, then sometimes I do just assume it's the writing. If not, then I usually go back and try to find out if I missed something. If I still don't get it, then I might look it up. (Sometimes I know I haven't really missed anything - it just doesn't make sense to me personally and then I might go online to see if anyone is with me.)
