Re: Weekend Plans?
SM-veckan is an event that gathers the Swedish Championships of a bunch of niche sports every year. Once in winter and once in summer. I found HEMA through SM-veckan 2017 summer edition and fell in love immediately.

Re: Weekend Plans?
I had fun watching the Sport Fencing. It's so different from HEMA, though. I feel like I dont't see a lot of parries, but that may be because their hand movements are smaller maybe? Sport Fencing looks a lot quicker too. Certainly too quick for me. They have very light gear with a conductive mesh vest and an electric cable running under the jacket, through the arm and connects with the sword so every hit is registered by electronics.
HEMA has heavier jackets, pants, hardshell leg/arm protection and gloves on both hands, not to mention heavier weapons. There are five or six judges around the ring to the hits and afterblows.
