Not surprising to me. I know the bubbles I'm in online openly condemn JKR and have come to more or less ignore HP. But talking to people IRL, it's still perceived as this harmless kids' media. I try my best not to shame or judge people who like HP stuff and still engage with it. I do tell people that I no longer pay attention to anything HP related because of the author's transphobia as well.
