You realize the Obama administration had a lot of racist backlash going on though, right? This is my POV as someone who lives in a red state, but there were constant theories that he's not a real American, he's secretly a "Muslim terrorist" despite being openly Christian, etc. etc. Not to mention the Tea Bag movement was the proto-MAGA as a response. I'm not a fan of Obama, but come on.
