"feeling rejected comes from being told no."

This this a thousand times this. "Feeling rejected" is valid when you show a fic to a friend and ask them if they like it and they tell you that they didn't.

"Feeling rejected" because nobody came to you and specifically told you they liked it but also no one specifically told you they DIDN'T like it is just silly. You're not being rejected just because people aren't going out of their way to praise you.
