I can’t quite imagine it as a whole season. I think it would be jarring to spend so long with alternate versions of the characters and then have all that essentially erased when the story went back to the normal universe.

But I do think it could and should have lasted longer, maybe 2-4 episodes?

We spent 4 seasons with the characters and then had that essentially erased when they added Dawn. The Wishverse would have been less complicated.

Interesting take. I definitely feel the reverse.

Adding Dawn was a bit throwing, but they kind of hand-waved themselves into “everything’s still more or less the same, she was just vaguely there in some way”. A proper alternate universe seems like a different level of deviation.

And in any case, that was a permanent change. It’s not like Dawn was around for a season, injected into everyone’s memories, and then disappeared and everyone was reset to their original state.

Season 4 was really bad.

Idk - the overall arc was messed up (they should never have killed off Maggie Walsh) but Hush, This Year's Girl/Who Are You, Something Blue, Restless - it has so many fantastic one-off episodes.

I would have loved if wishverse Buffy could have interacted with regular Buffy, I think they would have gotten more out of it as characters than Willow and Vamp!Wiliow did.
