DNF anything that you don't instantly enjoy reading. Set aside time just to read.

I noticed this in myself and hated it so went about working on it. Happy to say that since I started actively working on it I have really made progress and am back to reading books pretty regularly.

I guess it is just one if those things that is either important enough to do something to try and change or just shrug and accept the new you. I don't think either is necessarily wrong, just as long as you are happy or comfortable with where you land.

I have months where reading is hard and I have to set aside time to do it, but I have never been able to get into audiobooks, I dunno if it's the ADHD but I just end up tuning out the narrator and take nothing in.

If I'm going to read I have to actually sit down and do it myself, voice-only doesn't work for me.

Big same for audiobooks. Also podcasts. I always assumed it was an ADHD thing but I read that a ton of ADHD people prefer them so who knows.

Might just be my brain, could be part of my ADHD as it's a spectrum like most learning/developmental differences but audio with no visual is a nightmare for me, don't take it in, learn nothing, I've zoned out after 2 mins and now I'm daydreaming. I can have that issue with longer Youtube vids as well where it all turns into white noise, I get bored and turn it off.

I love audiobooks but they have their time and place for me. I listen to them when I’m driving, working out, and sometimes if I’m having trouble falling asleep at night. Otherwise I just read the book. For me, it’s great using Kindle and Audible because a lot of times it just automatically moves the book or audiobook up to where I left off on the last format.

Same about audiobooks, which is odd because I do listen to podcasts. But I just can't do full prose narrative in audio form, it feels so painfully slow and my brain just zones out. Someone having a conversation or telling a story/explaining something like they might do in person (at a lecture etc)? Fine. But listening to proper prose with full dialogues, descriptions etc? Nope. It just takes SO LONG to get through compared to reading and my brain just stops engaging.

I get annoyed at "she said" "he said". Yes, I HEAR IT

Yeah...I'm a little bored with podcasts lately TBH...

I don't know how long this is going to last.

Today, I began reading a drawer fic of mine, and last week I watched season 3 of Bridgerton for the first time (I'm always extremely behind on watching that show).

My romance novel reading phase may start up again. And that's usually followed by reading fanfics.

So maybe I'm just going through my cycle of entertainment consumption where it's going to shift back to fanfics....
