I think this is what's actually made it worse, because the entitlement and demands have always been there but when it's someone whining on their own post it's only going to go so far and likely won't get near the creator. But with so many creators on social media now those same entitled fans can just go into the DM's of these creators and demand the things they always wanted to but couldn't, and tbh it's ruined part of the fun of fandom.

I don't want creators to cater to my needs, I want them to tell the story they've made and I'll play in the fandom sandbox if it catches my interest. I don't need more than that.

Exactly anon, I see fandom the same way as you. It's cool to play in a "what if" sandbox, it's cool to enjoy the canon. Sometimes they match, sometimes they don't. I'm fine with either - it's like a buffet of enjoyment options!
