Fandom beloved characters

That you don't like. Not necessarily hate, but just not into. Or hate. Whichever floats your boat.

Loki. Just do not get the hype. I liked him alright in the first Thor but then I was over him and the more he came back the more I disliked him.

Also sort of mentioned in the other thread, I find Frodo boring. I did not know this was a controversial take but there you go.

Oh man yes. So over him. Especially the retroactive de-villaining his prior actions.

I don’t care for Jayce in Arcane and generally found him to be really dumb and annoying. He was a bit better for me in s2 but I still never clicked with him.

I didn’t like Keith or Lance in Voltron. The latter was annoying and the former had no personality and was as interesting as a plank of wood.

I don’t dislike Tony Stark, I liked him in his solo movies, but in Avengers movies I felt he got most of the spotlight when other characters could have done with some attention. Again not hate just, meh.

My attempt at watching NCIS was very short lived as Tony irritated the shit out of me to the point where even seeing the title screen made me mad. Legit flabbergasted that, that immature asshole was a fan fave, like, how???

NCIS was one of those fandom/fic first, show second experiences for me. It was wild how different some of the characters were to how I expected them to be from the fandom interpretations. Tony being a prime example.

I'm not sure if Tony or Gibbs annoyed me more, to be honest. Ducky and Abby made me stick it out far longer than I should have.

Dazai in Bungou Stray Dogs. In theory he should be right up my alley as a character but in practice he's such a blatant Creator's Pet that I can't like him at all. The manga's staunch refusal to let him ever be wrong ever to the point that even the things he did that *should* have been wrong get treated as actually not that bad (see: his abuse of Akutagawa when he was in the Port Mafia, which was apparently "what Akutagawa needed at the time" even though Beast literally exists to show that no, Akutagawa didn't 'need' to be abused to function) makes him deadly boring to me.

Just came here to say this! I hate the guy- both canon and fandom versions.

Nagito Komaeda from the Danganronpa series. Such an elitist little shit. I don't care that he considers himself scum, too. (I hate him less in Ultra Despair Girls and DR3 than I do in DR2...but that's not hard. I do rather enjoy the Warriors of Hope abusing him in UDG.)

Maeglin is weirdly popular in the Silmarillion fandom. Do not get it.

Gibbs and Tony on NCIS. Those two ruined the show for me.

Ted Mosby. I hated him by the end. I loved every character that wasn't him, so I stuck it out to the end. But him I hated.

Will from Chicago Med. By the time she left I also disliked Natalie. The show has been much better since they both left.

Tony Stark was great in his movies and even the first two Avengers movies. But he began taking over everything and everyone else's movies too and now he annoys me.

Xander. I don't know how beloved he is, but I hate him.

I don't hate or even actively dislike him. But Reid is the least interesting Criminal Minds character to me, and he's the fandom darling.

Rose Tyler. Didn't hate her in her first season. Then they did the romance thing that did not work. Plus she and 10 brought out the worst in each other and made me dislike 10 too.

Actually, 10. I like him okay, but he's probably my least favorite Doctor when he seems to be everyone else's favorite.

Crowley on Supernatural. Don't hate him, but I don't like him much.

Boba Fett, Jango Fett, the Mandalorian. Mandalorians in general. Overrated and I'm not remotely interested.

Netflix Jaskier. I can’t stand anything about him. Luckily he didn’t ruin the character for me in the books or games. But I spent a couple years seething about Jaskier stans flooding Witcher fandom spaces. It was annoying enough having the show take over those spaces but for me in particular it was all the Jaskier fans that really annoyed me. I hated how stupid he was. I hated that he wasn’t anything like the original character. I hated that the showrunner was too stupid to keep continuity and so accidentally made him longlived. I hated that the fans were too stupid to understand that. Thankfully that’s pretty much over; the show fandom either disappeared or carved out their own niche and don’t come into canon or game corners of the fandom anymore. I know there are still some fans out there and I hope they continue to enjoy their show. I just couldn’t because that one character was just so badly adapted.

If Ken went AWOL in the next Street Fighter game, I wouldn't miss him one bit. And his spot in Smash Bros. shoud've gone to Chun-Li.

Isabella in Dragon Age 2. Should have let the Qunari take her away. Anders annoys me as well.

Most of the legacy characters that Disney is trying to foist on the audience.

Tony Stark, Dr. House, Sherlock Holmes (in some adaptations), basically any super smart protagonist that uses being super smart to be an asshole. Once upon a time it was fun, now it's fingernails on the chalkboard of my soul.

Jaethal from Kingmaker. She's cool! But the dedication required to keeping her undead-ass "alive" is not worth it to me.
