I always liked Mel, but I thought s2 pretty clearly had her end up a much better person morally than she started out. Did you mean you think we were meant to hate her by the show's intentions, or just that so many people in the fandom hate her that you feel like the show must have failed at writing her?

Oh, fuck, I misread s1 as s2 in your comment somehow. Yeah, I do get why fans would've hated her at that point even though I agree with your take on her.

But I'd be confused if they thought she was worse after 2.

Yeah sorry I meant that I found her deliberately flawed in the writing and thus very interesting, but the fandom at the time hated her guts like she was going around murdering people gleefully or something.

I don't know how people feel about her now as I've not been back in the fandom since s1.
