I'm so glad I got to see Green Day this past weekend but my body is still aching from walking everywhere with my knee displacement. Using the suitcase to lean on getting to and from the hotel to the airport helped take SO much pressure off that I'm of the belief I need a cane of some kind.

Of course, this is being greeted with 'you're only 39! You don't need a mobility aid' from family.

I'd rather not be in pain from walking than go without next time I walk as much as I did this weekend. A cane is my best bet, but all the cute, collapsible ones are $100AUD plus.

And I ain't buying from Temu.

Your local pharmacy probably has some foldable canes for under $30 and you can cutify it yourself.

Canes rule, and if one helps you, then it helps you. What kind of nonsense is your family talking, about age limits? You have to be 70 to have a bum knee?

Canes rule. Ignore your family, getting cane would 1)benefit you 2) benefit your elder part of a family because it is normalising using mobility aids at any age. Parents can be really stubborn about getting help because they are "still young"

I have terrible knee problems too. A cane sometimes helps when I'm in my worst state, but what I find most helpful is a brace that stabilizes and supports. Something like this might help: https://www.orthomed.ca/m-brace-vega-patella-stabilizer (it depends on your specific situation, though) (I don't wear mine everyday, but a good, comfortable one can be worn everyday). Going to a store that specialized in braces and supports, and talking to the experts there, was a game changer for me. Is there a place like that you could go?
