Re: School-assigned reading: the best and the worst
(Anonymous) 2025-03-05 02:18 am (UTC)(link)I also liked Hatchet (and My Side of the Mountain and Julie of the Wolves). The fantasy of trying to survive on one’s own.
Lots of the Flies raised the idea of trying to survive with my classmates, which was more of a fear than a fantasy. Very compelling, but also quite uncomfortable, maybe similar to you.
