I don't mean Boreanaz's performance, that was great, but in Angelus the character's performance of his evil acts, it felt so rote. Like it was evil by numbers, like he was a boring guy reading how to be evil out of a book. And that was perfectly in-character with Liam the guy before Angelus and Angel's character. He was a wastrel with no imagination in his own life, and the Vamp who inherited his brain was just the same.
