Actually, I'm more the He Big Talked Us Into a Crippling War that Bankrupted the Country Two Years Before We Were Ready to Fight It and Had To Be Saved By America After They Price Gouged Us and Were Largely Responsible For Said Bankrupting kinda guy.

Part of the reason Chamberlain et al tried to talk down the threat of Hitler was he was frantically rearming and restructuring the British Military and British Industrial Base in order to fight them, but needed more time. Churchill loudmouthing in the tabloids every chance he got, just for his own ego's sake, made us enter a war that nobody really wanted to fight right then, and that Britain could not win. And then the whole bloody Japanese debacle, which is its own damn thing, too.

Plus he hated the NHS, tried to destroy the welfare state, wanted to set tanks on the Clydesider Protestors, and was the personal inspiration for Boris Johnson's offbrand generic imitations of him, which may have done even more damage long term.

And Churchill had the unmitigated gall to turn around and blame everyone else for "losing the empire", when it was his loudmouthed fragile ego that set the whole thing in motion. We'd still own bloody India if it weren't for him.

That is why I hate him.

And he didn't hang Arthur Percival for fucking cowardice and treason like he so richly deserved.

AYRT All very reasonable! I don’t think the UK would still “own” India but Churchill’s racism and cruelty sure didn’t help.

I'm sorry, are you saying that you want to still be engaging in colonialism?

Sounds like something a native would say.

It was very good for my country, and the peoples of my country. I'm not responsible for the wellbeing of other nations peoples.

Hey, do you have a recommendation for a reasonably priced mid-range laptop?

and, to be clear, that's worse than hitler?
