Mostly if you can tell me about character relationships? Like I replied to the other nonnie, I watched the first arcs (Restaurant and Nami arcs) so I'm at least familiar with the characters. Also thanks to the internet I know some spoilers. Like when nothing happened because absolutely nothing happened. But otherwise I don't really know much about character relationships and the crew.

(Anonymous) 2025-03-09 01:18 am (UTC)(link)The character relationships are my favourite thing about One Piece in general! If you like strong bonds of loyalty, you're gonna have a great time. If you like found family, it's basically the core theme of OP.
The LA so far covers the assembly of the main characters and I think it does a great job of making you fall in love with the characters as they are introduced and invested in their relationships with each other. When at the end they sail together into the sunset as a crew, that bond has been earned over the whole of the season and you can really feel it because you were there with them every step of the way. The characters and relationships are One Piece's greatest strength, imo, and the show runners know that.
And one thing that I never appreciate enough until it annoys me in other media: there is no romance among the main characters. There's plenty of great moments between the characters that shippers can fawn over (I should know, I'm a chronic shipper lol), but the show runners confirmed that there will be no romance between the main characters (it was one of the hard no's of the original author, who has final decision rights). Romance is not a thing in the OG and it's not gonna be a thing in OPLA either and that's a really underappreciated aspect of One Piece as a whole, I feel.
Re: Ayrt
Also super glad they don't have plans to tackle romance. As much as I love it and will devour fanfics I think it's best to leave it to fics and fanart to explore different relationships. And having themes of friendship and loyalty is such a good way to fan the flames on shipping, Imo. We've had cases of popular ships becoming canon *cough*BONES*cough* and they just dropped the ball so hard it was just not enjoyable anymore.
