I'm old enough where I grew up watching these cartoons regularly (are they even broadcast anywhere these days?) and I like cats just fine. I think this is a really weird take.

Yeah, when people are tired of a discussion and try to shut it down for others instead of simply excusing themselves and going off to do something they enjoy, it's tedious. And selfish.

It actually is true.

Walt Disney, being a dog person, is credited as the person that molded public consciousness into preferring dogs as loyal friends, were cats were devious. I don't think it was until the internet when cats had their public image improved.

I remember there was actually a Looney Tunes cartoon of a manipulative dog that got all the praise for good stuff, whereas the cat was blamed for stuff while even genuinely helping people.

And this bothered me for decades, since I grew up with cats, and knew just how affectionate and attached they could be to the people they love.
