I can’t really remember what class background they both have. I want to say they’re both Oxbridge boys?

And where do we think Watcher ranks in terms of acceptably posh professions?

I think Giles was definitely moneyed. He acts like a guy who doesn't have to worry where money comes from. Even his rebellious youth seems more like the sort of thing rich kids do as hellraisers.

He certainly did not seem to suffer financially from being fired from the watchers council or the school librarian job. Neither seemed to worry him, and he basically bought the Magic Shop on a whim, and more as his personal library/supply store than a real business. He ran a classic car for the first few seasons, the Citroen DS he drove was a certified classic for all the kids mocked it, and when Ethan wrote it off he had no problems getting his BMW. He crossed the Atlantic at the drop of a hat, and did you all see how he was dressed in England at the start of the last season? Giles, if he wasn't Old Money, certainly seemed to act like he was Old Money.

I guess he did have two (full time?) jobs for a number of years.
