I'm the opposite - I'll quit over stupidly done deaths even if they weren't my favourite (Dolls in Wynnona Earp), but if they kill my favourite in a good storyline (Buffy in her eponymous show), that just cements them as my favourite.

Oh absolutely. Even if it makes narrative sense, and even if it fits for the character, I'll still cringe a little bit just because they've killed blorbo from my shows.

How about when it is actor dictated? Like when an actor asks for their character to be killed off - do you still resent the show or does it move to the actor? How about when the actor is fired for really bad behavior and then the show kills off the character? What about when the actor dies and the show kills off the character? Unless the show is disrespectful about it, I don't think I could resent the show for that, though I often have a tough time watching after that, just because it makes me sad.

Huh. This secret made me think about if there are any deaths that made me resent a show/book/game/media...guess not any that are everlasting.

There have been times where I was shocked, surprised or upset over the death, but none in which I held onto resentment.

I guess some of the deaths at the end of GoT could make me resentful but I think the general existence of the last season is more what has me resentful than just character deaths.

100% how I feel, even when I am impressed with how they handle the fall out - Person of Interest comes to mind - I can never fully love and trust that show again. I know it's silly, but I really struggle with it.

At least the next one seems to have true co-op. Hopefully it'll be less grindy too. I bounced hard off Sandrock when I tried the demo. Portia was nicer imo except for the ridiculous plot with the father.

I don’t know about “cancellation bait” but it certainly is annoying. I’m not convinced end of season cliffhangers really make such a difference with audience retention. Especially not now that gaps between seasons are often so long.

At the very least, when shows are cancelled, I’d love for the writers to put out a little summary of how they planned to resolve it. I know why that doesn’t happen, but it’s a nice fantasy.

The idea that shipping is discouraging public displays of affection between men is laughable. It sounds like people are trying to blame women for men's problems and in this case, it's their own toxic masculinity that's poisoning the well, not m/m shipping.

Progressives are going to die out.

Conservatives have children, and try to teach them their values. Progressives think having children is bad and oppressive, and when they do have them, they try their best not to impose upon them. What's more, they increasingly view conservative people as permanently tainted, and shy away from the task of actual political persuasion.

This means that the progressive point of view will increasingly become somewhat niche, and it's already starting to happen.
