I don't think that's a problem for me. I have things I care for, things I don't care for, and things I think should / should not be. I don't think of myself as indifferent by nature, but to a certain point kinda have been trying to internalise a more Marcus Aurelius kind of attitude:

"You always own the option of having no opinion. There is never any need to get worked up or to trouble your soul about things you can't control. These things are not asking to be judged by you. Leave them alone."

And

"You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength."

I CARE about things, but I don't need to be controlled by the things I care about. I still care about injustices, and I still prefer that they be remedied. But I understand a little better these days how injustices happen, and it's NEVER because I didn't hate someone enough.

But you're right, hate is not inherently a problem, it's appropriate to hate bad things. Just like it's appropriate to drink alcohol at a celebration. But have you ever looked around and noticed how many drunkards we have?

This is a common personal view of assholes. If you cared about people, you'd be a "lefty extremist" who thinks people should be guaranteed basic necessities to live. But you're fine with people dying on the street. This is, quite literally, the definition of a problem.

"Because the only way to care about people that I acknowledge is to be a lefty"

Your definition of caring is based on your political party, and your political party is your proof of caring. It's all internal to your worldview where nothing from the outside can penetrate the circle to prove you wrong. There can be no caring without compliance to your beliefs.

It's practically Christian in it's self serving definitions. "Good people are Christians" "Here's a good person who's not a Christian" "I don't believe he really IS a good person, because if he was he'd already be a Christian".

And the /really/ impressive thing is your lot reverse-engineered this philosophy rather than inheriting it directly from a religion.

You're fine with Trump and his party of "personal responsibility" aka prosperity gospel aka "If you're suffering it's your own fault and you deserve no help." You're fine with the party in charge that is wanting to defund Medicaid, which covers literal children and infants and the elderly nevermind the disabled. So no, you care about YOUR people, not people in general. You're a selfish prick who only cares that his wallet is full and he has food on his table and that those in his inner circle aren't suffering, but everyone outside of it had better take care of themselves regardless of their goddamn circumstances.

Fuck off, and may you reap what you sow when you inevitably end up disabled by old age at least. Maybe then you'll understand basic empathy.
