I think there will be a huge backlash to Trumpism, particularly if he succeeds in cutting safety nets and the economy tanks. He's already working hard on tanking the economy.

But realistically, I think neoliberalism with safety nets is what will prevail.

There will be a backlash to him, but Trump is not really conservative, he's an opportunistic vulture without any true guiding ideology. When he falls, he will not bring conservatism down with him. On the contrary, I think it will inspire conservatives to "go back to their roots."

As a liberal, I'd really appreciate conservatives going back to their roots. At least those roots are understandable. Today's politics are ridiculous.

I am tired of having two right wings and the feeling that we are flying in circles. But instead of flying, we're just spiraling toward the ground.
