I mean, that's kind of an uncharitable take. Just like millenials getting screwed over by the intense focus on diet and party culture (and now more-or-less overcompensate with a focus on indulgent self-care and celebrating introversion), gen z got the intensive thick make up, 'vapes are fun and cool', and quirky being celebrated and are over-compensating by focusing on skin care, ditching chemicals (many are still vaping, thanks nicotine addiction), and trying to focus on digital community building, which is not great on mainstream social media and is 1000% making them miserable and lonely.

Nicotine is not much of an issue compared to the hazards of cigarette smoking. And nicotine is a HUGE self-medication cope for people with ADHD, fyi.

Nicotine is a highly addictive stimulant, and vaping is still bad for you even though it's a different set of chemicals being pumped into your lungs. Just because something helps alleviate specific symptoms in the moment doesn't make it good for you, particularly over time.

Vaping is terrible for your health. The lower risk of cancer is offset by the higher risk of popcorn lung, and it's pretty much a wash as far as asthma and COPD go. Stick to Nicorette or the patch if you need a nic fix.

Vaping is definitely bad for you, it the evidence for it causing popcorn lung is slim. That particular danger has been vastly overstated.

"Nicotine is not much of an issue compared to the hazards of cigarette smoking."

Yep, that's what people who vape claim in order to justify vaping. Nicotine is bad for you. Just because smoking cigarettes is worse doesn't mean that vaping is okay.

"And nicotine is a HUGE self-medication cope for people with ADHD, fyi."

And yet, that doesn't make it healthy, either. Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol is a HUGE self-medication cope for people with depression. Doesn't mean it's a good idea.

As someone who struggles with unhealthy vices due to unmedicated ADHD, please don't defend nicotine because some of us resort to it to cope. That doesn't make it any less harmful health-wise. ND people falling into these things is a societal issue, it's like saying alcohol is healthy because bars are a part of LGBT culture. It still is bad.
