Not sure if these are right for you, but I enjoyed Heather Fawcett's "Emily Wilde" books on investigations into Faerie (going to pick up the third one on Monday.) Not romantasy, though there is a romantic element. Also, on the sci fi side, Andy Weir, "The Martian" and "Project Hail Mary". Both are hard SF but are light reads.
