Haven't interacted with anything true crime in ages. What case is this referring to?

The recent deaths of Gene Hackman (actor), his wife Betsy Arakawa, and one of their dogs. No crime seems to be involved, it's just a sad and rather strange situation

It wasn't a crime, as it turns out, but the circumstances just looked suspicious and police had to be sure. Arakawa was discovered dead in a bathroom, with scattered prescription meds around her. Hackman was found dead in a mud room. Initially people wondered if it was murder, or carbon monoxide poisoning or something like that. By the time the bodies were found, they'd been dead for a while - a maintenance man called for a wellness check, apparently they weren't really close to their families.

Turns out, Arakawa probably died due to some kind of respiratory incident brought on by hantavirus. Hackman, who by then was suffering from advanced Alzheimer's, might not have known his wife was dead because as far as police can tell, he survived her by almost a week (but didn't call for help or contact anyone) before having a heart attack or something. One of their three dogs had been crated (I read somewhere because it was recovering from a recent surgery) and died, likely of dehydration/starvation. The other two were roaming the house/neighborhood and survived.

Also most of the comments I have seen speculating greatly overestimate the capabilities of someone with advanced Alzheimer's. Raising an alarm is a complicated multi-step process and also not part of the daily routine - I doubt he can would have been capable of it even if he understood the need. It's all just tragic.

Some people have speculated that due to the advanced Alzheimer he may have found his wife's body MULTIPLE times and then forgot again and that just breaks my heart.
