Not even for free. Really. My fiancée bought and paid for it on Xbox, but there was a part of me that was thinking "I could still pick it up. I probably wont play it, but free is free..."

Then I realised it take up space.

Yeah, it's 68gb on PS5 and while I have the space left, I'll probably uninstall it after I'm done.

But one of the main criticisms I've seen was that they basicaly messed up the lore...

Yeah, I saw it was for free for PS Plus users and I'm like, well, I will play it since I played the other DA games, but given how recent this game came out, my first thought was, "Damn, did people really think it was that bad that Sony had to make it free so soon after its release?"

Yeah, I only hear about it (had PS+ paused) from a friend who was all "btw, the new Dragon Age is out for free on PS+ but I feel like it only just came out??" ... yeah, that's usually a sign a game didn't really do that great.

Just got it and installed it yesterday - went through the character creation and the prologue/tutorial type thingie at the start and will probably play a bit as long as I still have my PS+ membership but man, I hate the optics so far, as expected. The character looks so different in game compared to the character creation screen despite the lighting options and yes, that was always the case but I feel it's worse this time. And I'm baffled that for all the niche character creation options you have (like skin conditions in every flavour), you can't do something as basic as changing the shape/size of your character's eyes except for making them slightly more squinty. It's weirdly limited in so many ways. I do think it's hilarious that with this character editor, my old Inquisitor looks more healthy than he did the entirety of his own game, despite my best efforts.

The surroundings are very prettily rendered but a bit too colourful for me and it clashes so badly with the cartoony character models. Especially the hands, dear god, why do the hands look like far too big balloony shapeless rubber gloves? In general, I wish they would have steered clear of the overdrawn weird ass anatomy (reminds me so much of an old Fable game), especially paired with the more realistic looking textures.

I also can't get used to my character's voice (either one, in either pitch) and that's a huge issue for me.

Can't say much about the plot yet (other than lol fuck you Solas, as usual) but I'm already not a fan of the lack of variety in replies you can give.

ALSO - I saw people going on and on about the amazing hair and... I have to say, I'm not a fan. It's all too floofy, poofy and actually doesn't move like hair would - it's far too.. weightless? It looks like it's floating underwater most of the time. Qunari also once again get seriously short-changed and that makes me annoyed even though I don't even play a Qunari. While I appreciate they turned away from the 50 shades of bald in Inquisition, it feels like they seriously overcorrected now.
