I finally started the second major part of my current crochet project, hoping to get another large chunk done this weekend. I also finally got the new Grady Hendrix book on libby so hoping to get started on that. Other than that games with my sister and BIL.

I think it's incredible just how long it was staring us in the face. In hindsight, the whole body-swapping thing is obviously a fetish. He made the whole site into his wank playground. And we took what, 15 years to figure out he was a creep?

So, in general, I like boss/employee or mentor/mentee only when the employee/mentee is the dominant one or if there is evidence in canon of power sharing/that the one in charge doesn't have all the power in the relationship.

In general, with D/s tropes, I have a massive preference for willing/eager submission rather than forced. And I especially love when the sub is actually more powerful in some way but is choosing to submit.

Also, I only like D/s in het pairings (or bi pairings) where the woman is dominant (if it is a m/f/m threesome, she needs to be dominant over at least one of the men).

I think part of it is if it's the student initiating, it's easier for the reader to believe that this is a genuine romance type of story. Lots of stories where it's the student initiating have the teacher react negatively and tell the student to wait til they're older or until they graduate at the very least, and whether the student listens or not, is the student's actions, not the teacher's. There's usually no intent on the teacher's part to prey on a student/child

If it's the teacher initiating and pursuing a student, it's the same building blocks, but different kink. Teacher that initiate are well aware of power and age dynamics but don't care enough about them to NOT be predators, and that's a different character trope and story genre entirely

Sometimes people just prefer and/or connect better with one type of media over another. It's not that deep.
