they're not standalone songs. they ONLY work in context of the episode and the storyline for the season of, relationships suck and never work out I need to invent reasons why no one wants to stay with their S.O., and also a song that is textual lesbian sex in real time.

like tbh in hindsight, as fun as it is, it also sucks on multiple levels. but for real the "songs" in a "musical episode" aren't meant to be good songs. Now, if you want to discuss how knowing that retroactively calls into question every textual drama song since Mozart was writing operas about newlyweds measuring their rooms for a fuckbed, NOW we've got a discussion.
