(Anonymous) 2025-03-22 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)Someone might be happy to get a hello from you.
Others might not, and most times they simply don't respond. And it could be for so many reasons, likely more about their lives than about how they feel toward you.
In my experiences, people think of you too and want to reach out too, but the uncertainty is what holds them back.
The person who reaches out is brave and thoughtful.
For me, I likely wouldn't reconnect. Mostly because I'm not very active in fandom so correspondence would not be anything like it used to. We're likely different people now and I'm not on social media so it'd be weird.
I do think of some fandom friends from time to time. Most of them, even the ones who I don't have the fondest memories of, I hope they're doing well. Because I remember the good times too. I don't go looking anyone up (wouldn't know how to either lol), but when random memories pop up I tend to think, "Oh wow, I wonder what they're up to now. Hope they're well."
I have a very small number of friends from fandom who I'm still friends with and we talk to each other regularly. Sometimes we talk about fandom stuff. But most times we're just gabbing and giving updates about what's going on in our lives.
Reach out if you want, you never know who might be glad to hear from you.
Don't assume just because no one reaches out to you they wouldn't want to reconnect if you reached out to them.
And if you don't get a response, it's likely not because they habor negative feelings toward you.
