I hate the word of god about Peridot being aroace so much.
1) The implication that gems are allosexual by default. They are asexually reproducing aliens. Yes, some of them (Rose) fuck but I don't think that's typical!
2) The fact that it’s Peridot specifically feels like some combination of “fusion = sex” and “well, she’s autistic-coded sooo…” and I don’t like that.
(I am aro and autistic, and I’m all for having more aspec characters, I just really hate this particular choice.)

I can understand that especially if it is the implication that autistic people are automatically supposed to be asexual. I swear i have spent my WHOLE young adult life resenting that belief since i noticed it as it related to me. I am autistic and pansexual. and though I may be demiROMANTIC i have long been annoyed by people's perceptions of me as automatically asexual or more innocent to that because I'm autistic, Maybe it's a personal thing but it just feels like infantalization which.. I guess gets to me because it adds to my strong imposter syndrome around being an adult.

Peridot was abso-fucking-lutely not written as aroace rep, the writers just pulled it out of their asses that she was after some aroace fans were asking why there was no rep for them in the show. It's worse than Dumbledore in my opinion, because with Peridot there was written-in evidence that she's allo in some way (the blushing and compromising positions with Amethyst, her whole thing with Lapis). I'm aroace but I'm sick of us asking for explicit rep in everything, lack of attraction is hard to show explicitly and trying to Word of God it leads to bullshit like this.
