I had a fandom friend who was always into some drama or other. She often deleted her socials, had some mental crisis, wasn't talking with her fandom friends etc etc. But it was really exciting to be liked by someone this charismatic and active.
I was mostly ignoring her drama though. Until I realised that she is a TERF (we didn't call it that way at the time, but it is what it is) and I was getting sucked into her ideology. And that she often picked on younger fandom friends who tried (quite gently) to challenge her view. I've noped out.
But I do miss being swept into being enthusiastic about something by someone much more emotional than me.

I am still friend in and out of fandom with one of people she was getting aggressive. They are lovely
