I just found that out recently, too, and also am in my early 40s. I always thought it was a really good makeup job.

It depends on attitude to me tbh

If there's surprise cheating involved in a storyline and someone who is not interested in reading about that thinks it would've been nice if that were mentioned/tagged somewhere, but recognizes that it's the risk they run reading untagged fiction? May even personally note to others not interested in that particular trope that the book contains a lot of infidelity drama? Cool

Demanding an official warning on the book though, from the author, about it containing cheating tropes like they are something dangerous or inherently bad in fiction and the author is negligently exposing people to it if they don't "warn"? Yeahhh, entitlement

Nobody has any issues with sites like doesthedogdie.com existing and doing their thing on their own. Now if people demanded official warnings from movie studios plastered on promo posters about whether any dog in any movie dies... lol

1. I was under the impression content warning and trigger warning were interchangeable, back on Tumblr I would tag triggers with "cw [subject]" since "trigger" became watered down.

2. "Warnings" for things that aren't for sensitive topics is... Very weird to me. In published works too? I wonder if this is residual "AO3 tag culture"....

Right? Because not only is the resemblance uncanny, she had the whole voice down, too.

When I watched it as a kid I definitely thought that!

Jessica's a baddie in that version? Now I really don't wanna watch it!

I appreciate it on ao3 but for some reason I absolutely hate it on published works. Though I do appreciate the people who compile the data on websites like doesthedogdie.com so people who need it can find it.

Loud, proud, and having fun is my kinda character. I just love them.

Same and same.

On a personal level, as one of the people for whom trigger warnings cause a nocebo effect, I strongly dislike them in published fiction (as opposed to on Ao3, where tagging is necessary to find the thing you're looking for). On an aesthetic level, it suggests a certain type of writing career path that is fully legitimate but that I am not personally going to enjoy.

However I want to know if I'm about to get invested in something which kills off a cat so that I can avoid it, so it's great that people make websites like doesthedogdie.com.

Putting this here as it is political.

Mother fucking hell. Government attorney today was a complete asshole. Right at the start he told the judge that his position was the fact that my client snuck in before he applied for asylum meant that everything was a lie, my client had submitted a fraudulent asylum claim, and nothing my client said could be trusted. And then asked the judge to reject all our evidence and submissions.

My client was already feeling traumatized from going over his story to prepare yesterday. And already feeling a bit sick. But he proceeded to throw up and we had to reschedule the hearing. To October. So now he needs to stay in detention until we get back in court in October.

This is one of the strongest asylum cases I've ever worked on (involves torture and a death sentence for being gay). We would have won. I know it. I'm just so fucking done. I want to scream.
