(Anonymous) 2025-03-30 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)i think it's more likely to be received well if you make the offer tied to some SPECIFIC, discrete urgent bill - they need a $X for dental work or something. you can just say, hey, I have enough money and I WANT to spend it on you being okay.
you can also say that they can consider it a zero-interest loan if they want to. and if they get what they need right now and pay it back later, at least you helped them out in the jam so they didn't have to wait in pain, and if they never pay you back, then it was a gift after all.
