I think that’s probably fair when they’re considered as songs on their own.

There are only two or three I’ll relisten to and I don’t know if I’d even do that without knowing and caring about the characters and plot context.

Mostly, I think they were very good at doing character development.

what, you don't find Joss Whedon's paeon to lesbian sex a banger? you don't say.

I said it in the og comment thread and I'll say it again: they're not meant to be good songs. they're plot devices, contrived and forced to make the season 6 plot go the way Whedon wanted. he needed to dramatically fuck up everyone's life in one go, why not a huge musical? except the poor guy with mustard on his suit, he was probably already having a bad time before then.

Feel bad for parking ticket lady

I agree. It's a fun episode, and the songs work as far as that goes, but I thought it was overpraised at the time, and now I still don't really want to say it because it sounds like Whedon-related sour grapes. The lyrics work to get the characters where they're going, but I don't think they're very good.
"These endless days are finally ending" lol.

I really can’t tell if they’re good or not because I find musical episodes cringey in general. On the rare occasion I rewatch all of Buffy, this and the Superstar episode are the two I skip.

Same. I watched it once (which, to be fair is more than I watch musical episodes usually) and that's enough for me.

I have them on my playlist and I like listening to them.

I enjoy most of them but I think it helped that I first heard them when my understanding of English was... shaky to say the least, because now I have to intentionally avoid focusing on the lyrics too much because I find them really forced and cringey in places. That said, I generally cannot stand musical episodes and OMWF is the only one I've ever seen that didn't make me want to smash my TV.
