I'd also argue a lot of characters considered "canonically straight" are actually assumed to be straight by default due to heteronormativity.

Meh, maybe. But plenty of gay ships are made from characters that have 100% only show attraction to the other gender (or none). Not that it makes it wrong, obviously, I ship these ships.

This is such a weak argument and I don’t know why so many people trot it out, I’m queer for the record but we all know that most characters are considered straight by the creators and writers. You don’t need to legitimise how your headcanon is actually totes canon, just enjoy it in fanon however you want. That’s the point of fandom.

We also don’t need to “legitimize” mind reading as a form of what’s canon, that’s not even word of god.
