This is what I meant when I said I want a truce between woke and anti-woke gamers. I want us to join against devs who think they’re entitled to our money for making bad games that vaguely appeal to our politics.

I'm tired of this culture war but I think this is the one thing anyone can agree on.

Exactly! I would expand this to movie studios, musicians, writers, comic creators, and other creators in general. No one is entitled to my money for entertainment if said entertainment isn't good.

I mean, look at Disney or EA.

Disney wants the brownie points for having POC characters and ten thousand "first gay Disney characters," but they don't want to give those POCs decent stories or actually show depictions of gayness.

Then you've got EA who will stuff as many pride flags & Afro-texture hairstyles into The Sims 4, but every pack passed a certain point has more bugs in them than Blather's least favourite wing of his museum.

Sure, I can get behind teaming up against the devs. Or more likely the publishers. But what would a Truce look like? I'd stop shitting on games that race swapped a character or made their female characters look... unappealing, if they stop shitting on games with a majority white cast or sexualised female characters?

You think either side would go for that?

How about something super simple: we play the game and if it's a good game, we like it, and stop crying and whining about either DEI or straight white males before we play the game.

Most of the crying and whining about every game I can think of has come from people before the games have even launched.

I think some degree of griping at each other is inevitable. Just no review bombing or trying to cancel each other, and maybe admit that each other’s games can be good. I mean, Bayonetta has been juggled as both woke and anti-woke depending on who wants to call it good.

Anti-woke gamers who screamed about Angela in Silent Hill 2 Remake may have spoiled the fun of screaming about videogames for everyone. No one liked them whining that a victim of CSA wasn't sexy enough lol. There's never going to be a truce because everyone who screams and cries about videogames is innately a loser and Silent Hill 2 Remake officially wore out their welcome.
