Not waving back to a kid is like not even on the list of terrible things you can do to a kid and I find it so weird that complete strangers are expected to perform like dancing monkeys to any kid who happens to be near them and if they don't they're some monster that's 5 secs away from punting them into traffic apparently.

Yes. That's exactly what I was saying. Or maybe I was saying that when anyone says hi to you, it's considered polite to say "hi" back.

Random adults aren’t entitled to getting a response from strangers so why are kids meant to be an exception? At worst not responding to someone is a bit rude but that’s it. Fucks knows I can’t remember people not saying hi back if I say it first.
