I think I get it? I feel less of a reaction to “So-and-So Dies at 85” than “So-and-So Dies at 47”.

Yeah, but Val Kilmer wasn't 85.

Yeah, same. When I hear the first one it's like "oh, that's too bad, but they lived a nice long life." It's not a surprise in any way and it's less sad because it's expected.

The second one is a real "aww, man" because people aren't supposed to die at 47.
