Re: What does “a character/villain you love to hate” mean to you?

For me it means that I think the character is thoroughly entertaining to watch and does a fantastic job of being a shitbag, but my god do I want to see them loose in the end. I’ll just enjoy that ride until that point.

My most recent example of this is Park Yeon-Jin from The Glory who is utterly despicable, but my god did I enjoy watching her being an absolute fuck head. I also thought the actor did a fantastic job of making her so hateable but also so fun to watch.

+1. That combination of wanting them to lose but loving the ride they take the heroes on is what makes a villain so enjoyable.

Ba’al in SG1, Char in Mobile Suit Gundam, and Sigmund in Trails to Azure are great examples.
