Physical exercise. It doesn't have to be grueling, a walk is fine. This isn't very scientific, but the explanation I read once is that when your body is feeling stress/anxiety, it triggers off a sort of fight/flight reaction that goes nowhere because modern problems are rarely dealt with that way. But your body still feels it, so giving it an outlet for physical exertion will help.

Easier said than done, I know. But way better than spending money you can't afford or drinking to excess. In the end, there's no real trick to it except forcing yourself to choose a healthier coping mechanism and doing it consistently so that over time, it becomes habit.
