Not entirely sure, but I think they’re reacting to the sorta sexy-voyeuristic tone the show applies to the scenes of violence against women.

It certainly surprised me, based on the way the show was described and recommended.

I guess OP thinks it’s clearly meant to be sexy (I agree) and that people are pretending it’s not (I’m not sure about that).
