I keep seeing people mentioning careful stocking up of essentials in case of shortages. I'm curious what you plan to get?

For me: Some canned goods, dishwasher pods, laundry detergent, probably some OTC meds. If you have pets, you might want to stock up on their food. Apparently a lot of the vitamins/minerals come from China.

Paper products typically (though I'm good on those for now) but stuff like beans, rice, pasta, canned goods (unless you can your own veggies) maybe flour, sugar and salt, other spices, coffee, tea. I might even get some wine if there's money left over, idk lol.

Your priorities will honestly depend on the things you go through the most. Canned goods, coffee, cleaning supplies, medication/first aid supplies, pet food, and anything for small home repairs is generally good. Most medication comes from China, and with additional tariffs on aluminum and other metals, canned goods will increase in price to compensate. A lot of paper products are acquired from Canada.

After that, you might want to think about how the supply chain might affect the good in question. Kikkoman Soy Sauce, for example, has an entirely USA based supply chain so it's rare that will increase in price. However, most jasmine rice is imported from Thailand, so if you like that kind of rice you may want to get additional to have on hand.
