You just have to keep canon in mind and learn how to properly circumvent it so it isn't disregarded completely.

Exactly. Like having them become interested in other people or whatnot, but dealing with the fact that Colette is attracted to Lloyd and that he cares about her LIEK WOAH. I mean, I'm sure that Colette would be hurt but she wouldn't be all like "jkgfajafk DDD: LLLOYD HOW COULD YOU!?!?!?!? *RAGE ANGELIC POWERS WORLD EXPLODES*"

But then I'm no good at writing break ups. ^^'
