I don't get the idolization of professional athletes. Like in a fundamental way I don't understand what about being good at basketball or something makes someone great or a hero. I saw some guy do some crazy yo-yo tricks on Tiktok but I'm not looking up to him with stars in my eyes.

Is it just the general worship of wealth?

IDK, I think that anyone who is really great at anything is pretty awesome, actually. Like, just the other day I was watching some clips from a foreign dance competition show and damn, some of the stuff the dancers were doing was awesome. It was just plain fun to watch how they did these amazingly complicated moves and made them look so simple and effortless.

It's the same with sports for a lot of people, I think.

I think so too, but I also don't hero worship every one of those I see nor do I have posters of all of them on my walls. Nor am I chasing all of those people down for autographs.
