As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Sunday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

P.S. Please don't worry if you've submitted a secret and it hasn't been posted yet. I usually post these threads before running out of the previous batch of secrets to get a head start on the next batch.

I love Led Zeppelin but I never want to hear Stairway to Heaven again. It's much too overplayed. My favorite Led Zeppelin song is Bron-Y-Aur Stomp and you NEVER hear that one!

I'm sick and tired of people who don't understand that "dark" and "grimdark" are not the same thing.

I like dark fiction. I DON'T like grimdark stuff. I'm tired of people giving me recs for grimdark stuff because they think it's all the same.

This new Pope still reminds me of Cardinal Rocco from The Pope Must Die. I can't help it, that is exactly the image he seems to have.

I wish I had waited another week to submit my "'Brianlookoutnooo' always cracks me up" secret.

Not just because I'd have a direct reference to what I was talking about, but because Jacksfilms actually said exactly everything I think every time his "Brianlookoutnooo" meme pops up, whether it's in a video or in my head:

"Why do I still laugh at this every time I look at it? It's like I'm seeing it for the first time!"

It's personally validating for me to see Jack giggling like an idiot at this dumb meme, because it gets me every. time.

I hate Shrek.

That movie has convinced a whole generation that Smash Mouth's All Star is a socially acceptable song.

I have a new reason to be pissed off at Neil Gaiman for being a rapist PoS: he was friends with Diane Duane and her husband Peter Morwood, and Morwood just died unexpectedly.

Back before the rapist news broke, he could've (and I think did) boost their fundraising efforts for housing and medical expenses, because they were yet another pair of continuously working writers who nonetheless never quite made enough to stay afloat, despite Diane Duane writing for a crap ton of franchises including Star Trek.

I only ever liked some of Gaiman's work and adaptations of it, but I defended him for his literacy and anti-censorship advocacy, and his fundraising efforts on behalf of struggling sick or retired writers.

I don't know if he considered that work and his friendships with and general affability towards other writers to be nothing but a PR smokescreen to cover for his nastiness, but as much as his actions have tarnished his own work and reputation, they also made all that advocacy work seem insincere.

And he's spending all his money hiring the same reputation laundering assholes as Johnny Depp, and suing his victims for breaking their NDAs (and not for lying about his horrible actions, because discovery would suck for him if he did that.) I would bet he hasn't donated a cent to any charities or fundraisers since his mask was ripped away.

I've gotten back into reading for pleasure. The catalyst? A new, local queer bookstore that I want to support and see survive. It's called The Lavender Bookshop and is quite lovely. It's really drawn me into a new genre for me, too- creative nonfiction.

Sometimes it seems like I am the only person in the world without strong feelings on the Wicked movie.

My only point of reference for "Gift of the Magi" is the animated Mickey Mouse Christmas version. And my only knowledge of Robinson Crusoe is from an episode of Wishbone.

I wanted to like BBC's Merlin for the fantasy and shipping elements but....I found Merlin too unattractive to watch. Opps. Sorry!

I feel guilty and weird about the fact that sometimes, when my roleplay partner and I get to a spicier part of the fanfic we're writing together, I feel...tingly sometimes. It feels wrong to even partly be getting off on it. I don't self pleasure over it or anything, but still... :(

I don't get the idolization of professional athletes. Like in a fundamental way I don't understand what about being good at basketball or something makes someone great or a hero. I saw some guy do some crazy yo-yo tricks on Tiktok but I'm not looking up to him with stars in my eyes.

Is it just the general worship of wealth?

I wish people wouldn't confuse the terms "AU" and "headcanon" so much.

Lots of things that are perfectly fine as AUs get called "headcanons" by people who then turn around and are offended and confused when others ask why on earth they think whatever headcanon they have is true in canon, acting like they never claimed anything about characters or plots. But like yes, you did? That's what headcanon means. You are saying it's canon in your head but not on paper. Head-canon.

It's not "this isn't canon, but what if? Let's just switch things up for fun!" That's an AU.

Remember when rpf was a bit taboo, the sort of thing you'd mention in hushed tones only to your close friends or the very close fandom friend, only use as "evidence" queerbaiting moments and never proudly share fanwork, only ever share in a "haha what if" way because everyone knew that is delulu shit and nobody really has any right to ACTUALLY know what's going on when the cameras aren't on? Yeah I do. I think we, as a society, peaked then. Rpf fans who sound just like tabloids, GO AWAY.

Secret because I have been in every rpf heavy fandom you can think of. Many actors, bandom, youtubers, kpop. I felt guilty for some of what I did when Dan came out, don't know how I'd sleep at night if I had the attitude of some rpf fans of nowadays and my ship came out.

I've never liked a single religious character. I dislike it when characters are canonically religious because it makes me unable to like them. The whole idea of religion is alien to me and I have trouble trying to get into their heads. It's like everything else about them makes sense but there's always this one irrational bit where they have blind faith in something for some reason I can't understand and it won't go away. Bounces me off them every time.

Ofc exceptions made for when god(s) are provably real in their universe and directly impacting things.

I really hope movie theaters can figure out how to integrate more interactive movie experiences in the future. (Think sing-long showings and time slots devoted to the interaction going on with the Minecraft movie.)

To me, interactive showings are one of the best tools theaters have for staying in business. It'd be a shame if they ended up squandering it.

Fandom: Harry Potter

I only liked this series up until Order of the Phoenix and I feel like the books went downhill from there. Goblet of Fire had a cool tournament arc and a cliffhanger! Then Order of the Phoenix squandered the momentum, Half Blood Prince was lame, and Deathly Hallows just sucked.

Also, I never gave much thought to Ginny. I've never understood the complaints about the movies "not adapting her personality" because I sat through all of OotP and HBP and there was not a single drop of personality to be found! The cool Ginny that jinxed other students for being dicks was only ever found off-screen where we didn't see her. Otherwise she was just kind...there? I wanted Harry to end up with Luna because Luna was an actual character with motives and quirks and stuff!

I've since felt really bemused by JKR revealing herself to be a twitter addicted dickhead and how this has changed fans' perceptions of the books because I was disillusioned with them for years.

Fandom: Yellowjackets

I don't know what I find more exhausting: the Shauna hate or the Natalie worship.

I think the biggest issue with modern gender identity politics in AAA fantasy or historical video games is that the writers seem to be mostly incapable of writing them in a way that feels organic to the setting instead of it feeling like the game characters are a bunch of modern transmigrators doing presentations on the material they learned in their gender studies 101 class.
Yeah sure, if it was executed better, the people who have a problem with it would still whine. But the trashy way it's written means they manage to also alienate plenty of people from queer communities or allies so maybe ... do better?

I low key kinda love how Star Trek fandom has somehow decided that Gul Dukat was some sort of evil sex god.
