I don't think there's a good answer to this. It is just a tough situation and I think the answer is a vague "only you can know when the time to say goodbye is" which isn't helpful but it is true.

I just went through this with a pet and it's awful and painful and a part of life. I'd say just try and enjoy the time you have with them but also be mindful of being open to making that final call. I'm really sorry you are both going through this.

Deep down, I know this, but gods, I hate it. Saying goodbye to Oliver sucked. I'm just not ready for Jackie to be gone, too. And then Diana will be all alone!
